UNPAD’s Marine Science Students Win National Paper Competition (2020)

Three Marine Science students from Padjadjaran University, Zaki Ali Fahrezi, Saeful Anwar, and Bram Nthanael, won two winners at the Tirtayasa National Paper Competition (2020) at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Cilegon, 7 -10 February.

Tirtayasa National Paper Competition is a national-level Scientific Writing (KTI) competition based on technological innovation. This activity is held every year at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This year, the activity has the theme “Research & Technology Development To Consolidate the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Indonesia”.

This activity was attended by 49 teams from all universities in Indonesia. Of the 49 teams, ten were selected to continue the presentation on 7-10 February 2020.

The Unpad delegation itself presented the title “Ocean Cleaner with IOT (Internet Of Things) Microcontroller as a Marine Environment Cleaner solution” with supervisor Subiyanto, P.hD.

Saeful explained that Ocean Cleaner is a tool designed to solve the problem of marine debris in the marine waters of Indonesia and the world. Marine debris is a global issue that is still complex to handle.

“Ocean Cleaner utilizes wind power and is based on an IOT microcontroller as a monitoring tool, so we do not need to go to a location to clean it, just monitor it via the website or cellular phone,” said Saeful.

The UNPAD team won first place and was the overall champion in the competition.
