UNPAD’s marine science introduced me to the underwater world, to know what is in the sea scientifically. We will learn broadly about the ocean here, knowing how the sea is physically or from a biological perspective. During the lecture period, the academic side and student organizations will shape the character of marine science graduates who are competent and competitive in the marine sector.

As one of the leading educational institutions in Indonesia, Marine Science at Padjadjaran University offers theoretical strengthening and learning in the classroom and practice-based education in the laboratory and in the field. Moreover, students are required to think critically and independently to strengthen competitiveness in the growing global marine industry.

UNPAD’s marine science gave me much insight and exciting things to learn. Because the sea is complex and vast, we can find many interesting things related to biota, environment, and social life but also about government, defense to the global economy. We rise by lifting each other.

Choosing a Marine Science study program at Padjadjaran University was one of the most critical moments in my personal development. In this study program, I learned about marine matters from the basic to the complex, both in theory and practice. In understanding theory, the teaching staff helped me understand various processes in the sea and coast, ranging from biology, chemistry, physics, and socio-economics. Learning activities are also often carried out in the laboratory and in the field every semester. Armed with various soft skills, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, modeling (numeric), and also writing scientific papers, after graduating from this study program, I had the opportunity to have a career in academic and non-academic fields, as well as to continue my studies. Up to the doctoral level.

I feel fortunate to study at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University. Studying in the marine department opened my mind and insight into the great potential of the Indonesian nation, namely in marine resources. It also brought me finally able to travel to around ten countries before graduating from college and almost 30 countries today by bringing up marine issues and Indonesia’s important role in leading the world in environmental issues, especially the sea. I will never forget the services of the lecturers who were very positive, supported my academic progress, and provided a strong foundation in loving the environment and Indonesia. Thank you FPIK UNPAD. Jalasveva Jayamahe!
